History of Medjoul Dates
The Medjoul date, also known as Medjool or Majhool, is a large, sweet variety of date (Phoenix dactylifera) from the Tafilalt region of Morocco. Medjoul dates are produced in countries such as the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Jordan, Palestine, and Mexico The variety is planted both for harvest and for landscaping. The Medjool is a unique and distinctive variety, described as “a large, soft fruit with orange-yellow flesh and a rich, pleasant flavor.” The Medjool date was introduced to the Western world when a disease nearly wiped out the date palm trees in the oases of southern Morocco; to save this delicious fruit from extinction, eleven date palms were sent to the United States in the 1920s. Nine of the eleven palms survived and are now responsible for the millions of Medjool dates that can be found throughout California and in many parts of Arizona and the world.🇳🇱 €7,99 · Free starting at €45,00
